The FAFSA is the application needed to apply for Federal Student Aid. This aid ultimately provides funds to support students with their post-secondary education.

Why should I fill out the FAFSA?
If you don’t fill out the FAFSA, you could be missing out on a lot of financial aid! Many believe that they do not qualify for Federal aid, but that is simply untrue. In reality everyone should fill out the FAFSA to see what they qualify for.

When should I fill out the FAFSA?
FAFSA applications become available on January 1st. Some federal aid programs are on a first come, first served basis, so it is best to apply as soon as possible!
How do I fill out the FAFSA?
The fastest and easiest way is to file online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid. From there, you can also find instructions on paper filing should you need it.
Additional important information:
Before you file (this can be done before January 1st), get your PIN. This PIN will be used to sign the application so DO NOT lose it or share it with anyone. You may register for your PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
Complete your FAFSA application BEFORE filing your current tax return. You will use last year’s tax information to complete the application. You can also update the tax information online should you find that necessary.
